Nonprofits Create Community Through Media

If you are a nonprofit organization you may want to consider doing a multimedia performance series just like Lincoln Center for the Performing arts and the Film Society of Lincoln Center did with the help of Video Film Web. Video Film Web worked for 5 years on the monthly mixed media and live performance series for family and kids called “Stage Meets Screen: Real to Reel”. Video Film Web along with Jazz at Lincoln Center founding producer Alina Bloomgarden created the video that was projected on the screen of the Walter Reade Theater. Video Film Web also filmed all of the shows. A new multimedia performance occurred each month and consisted of morning and matinee shows that featured live actors and performers on stage, interspersed and juxtaposed with classic cinema and specially produced video segments that were projected on the screen. Video Film Web also edited and filmed for these segments. Each show has a theme – such as Shakespeare, Hip Hop and Tap Dancing. And celebrities and experts in their fields participate including Savion Glover, Dr. Ruth and the late Fayard Nicholas (of the Nicholas Brothers). Nonprofits create community through media.
